This meter includes a 1 degree spot meter in addition to the ambient light meter. So, you can easily meter a scene for average lighting, and then check the relative exposure value of specific portions of the image to see how many stops above or below the metered value they lie. This makes zone metering VERY easy, reduces the chance of blowing highlights or missing shadows, and generally helps teach good photography.
